The Anadolu Courthouse and translating court documents
The İstanbul Anadolu Courthouse is in Kartal, and cases from most of the Asian side are heard there. As a result, many translation requests from Kartal involve court documents: having a divorce decree recognised abroad, recognition or enforcement of a foreign court decision in Türkiye, and foreign-language evidence or witness statements.
For recognition or enforcement of a foreign judgment in Türkiye, the court usually asks for the original or a certified copy, its apostille and a certified translation. Get the list of documents the court or your lawyer needs in writing; a missing annex may mean a new translation later.
Apostille and translation order for court decisions
If a decision issued by a Turkish court is to be used abroad, the apostille is issued by the Justice Commission at the courthouse. If the decision is final, use the copy with the finality annotation. Some countries also want the apostille translated, in which case it must be obtained before the translation. See our apostille and translation guide for details.

Frequently asked questions
Who should translate documents for a case at the Anadolu Courthouse?
Courts usually want a translation by a sworn translator, and sometimes notarization as well. Follow what the court’s letter asks for.
I will use my divorce decree abroad. In what order should I proceed?
Get the decree with its finality annotation, have it apostilled by the Justice Commission at the courthouse, then have the decree and apostille translated together. Check the destination country’s rules separately.
