Official documents and consulate applications
Passports, civil registry documents, diplomas, powers of attorney and company documents may be subject to different translation requirements for visa, education, citizenship or business applications. Certified translation (sworn translation) and notarized translation are separate service stages. In Turkish, the terms “noter tasdikli” and “noter onaylı” both refer to notarized translation. Whether you need an apostille has to be assessed separately.
For consulate procedures, share the application type, the country and the institution’s current document checklist. The service here covers translating the documents and preparing the translation. You can also read our guides on document types, certified translation and notarisation.
Business and legal translation
In contracts, company formation documents, certificates of activity, powers of attorney, case files and corporate correspondence, terms and party names need to stay consistent throughout the file. Send the current version together with its annexes, any previous translations and your organisation’s preferred terminology. For recurring projects, file naming, the delivery schedule and the revision scope can be planned from the start.
Translations of customs documents used in imports and exports also fall under this heading. In invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, movement certificates and certificates of conformity, product names, quantities and reference numbers must be checked together. Go to the corporate and legal translation guide.
Technical translation
User and maintenance manuals, technical specifications, product catalogues, engineering reports, test documents and production instructions all count as technical translation. Sharing drawings, tables, units of measurement and earlier documents for the product along with the text makes preparation easier. An editable file and a scanned PDF can involve different amounts of work; specify in the quote whether layout and text inside drawings are included.
Medical translation
Discharge summaries, laboratory results, patient reports, hospital records, medicine texts, medical device documentation and clinical research content each need different preparation. Share a legible copy of the complete document and explain how it will be used. Any missing pages should be supplied so that abbreviations, values and internal references are carried over correctly. In your request, also state the format and approval the receiving institution expects.
Academic and literary translation
In articles, theses, conference papers, research reports, abstracts and project files, subject terminology, citations and publication format are handled together. Send the journal’s or university’s style guide, the word limit and the deadline. For application documents such as diplomas and transcripts, we have a separate document guide.
In literary texts, the narrative voice, style and intended readership matter most. When requesting a book, story or other creative text, tell us its genre, total length, usage rights and target publication format. The stages of translation, editing and final proofreading are agreed at the start of the project.
Website and digital content translation
Corporate websites, product descriptions, category pages, blogs and interface text can be prepared in the language of the target market. Share the list of pages, the target country, your brand voice and the content files. Menus, buttons, titles and description fields should also be included in the scope. Translating the text and technically setting up and publishing the site are separate jobs; tell us the delivery format you need.
Interpreting, editing and media content
For meetings, trade fairs, notary appointments and events, see our interpreting options, consecutive and simultaneous. To have an existing text improved or proofread, or a recording transcribed, start with our editing, proofreading, transcription and subtitling page.
Frequently asked questions
What should I send if I don’t know which service I need?
Share your document or a project summary, the source and target languages, what the translation is for and your deadline. Written documents, live meetings and reviews of existing translations are assessed with different scopes.
Does every specialist field require notarisation?
No. Whether approval is needed depends less on the subject of the text and more on the document format the receiving institution asks for.
Can I use more than one service in a single project?
Stages such as translation, editing, layout or subtitling can be planned together. The quote should set out the deliverable and scope of each stage.
This guide is for general information. Confirm the document and approval requirements for your application with the relevant institution, and share its current checklist with your translation request.
